The dog days of summer are upon Muskoka and there are plenty of outdoor opportunities available in the area for tourists and residents alike. Consider checking out these 10 events coming up this August in the Muskoka region. 

10. Summer Water Sports Water Ski Shows 

From Monday to Thursday until August 23rd, you can join Summer Water Sports for their Water Ski Shows from 7:30 pm to 8:30 pm. These shows have been ongoing since the 1970s and feature death-defying acts by the Canadian National Ski Show Team and Team SWS. Come out and enjoy a great show on the water. 

9. Midnight Madness Street Festival 

On August 3, the small town of Bracebridge slightly north of Muskoka will be hosting the Midnight Madness Street Festival at the corner of Manitoba Street and Memorial Park. Starting at 6 pm, this community event will feature live music by the Blue Rodeo tribute band Blue Radio, as well as shopping, food, fun, and more until midnight. 

8. Taps Session Muskoka Craft Beer Festival 

Come out and enjoy some incredible Canadian craft beer at the Taps Session Muskoka Craft Beer Festival from 1 pm to 8 pm on August 4th. Tickets are $30 per person and include a commemorative festival glass, five tasting tokens, more than 100+ craft beer options, and live music. Join other beer lovers at the Annie Williams Park for great drinks, food, and entertainment. 

7. Dockside Festival of the Arts 

This festival will take place during the third weekend of August from the 17th to the 19th at the Muskoka Wharf in Gravenhurst. You can stop by between 10 am and 6 pm on the first two days and until 4 pm on Sunday. There will be plenty to do at the 27th annual Festival of the Arts including works by over 100 artisans, live music, gourmet food, craft beer, and more. 

6. Muskoka VegFest 

Come out and join local farmers, producers, and veggie-lovers at the first annual Muskoka VegFest. This event will take place on August 11th from 10 am to 6 pm at the River Mill Park in Huntsville. There will be plenty of vendors and exhibitors selling food, vegan products, educational opportunities, and more to support “conscious living, wellness, and sustainability.” 

5. The Artful Garden

This is an ongoing show of the works of over 40 artists at John and Suzann Partridge’s Muskoka gardens. The Artful Garden features sculptures, wall hangings, jewellery, bird feeders, iron work, stone carvings, and more in an outdoor gallery open daily from 10 am to 5 pm. Catch this showcase before it is retired on August 12th. 

4. Bandshell Concert Series 

The Bandshell Concert Series is an annual summer event in Bracebridge that features many styles of music and entertainment. Each Thursday, join Bracebridge locals from 7 pm to 8:30 pm for free live music. August’s performers include the Northern Lights Steel Orchestra, Grady Kelneck, Doug McLean, the Olde Tyme Gospel Band, and Mike Phillips. Feel free to bring chairs and blankets! 

3. Walkers Point Marina Annual Corn Roast 

Each year Walkers Point Marina hosts a free Corn Roast at their location on Marina Road in Gravenhurst. This event features ski shows, vendors, and activities for the public. 2. Gravenhurst Street Festival Sidewalk Sale 

Support local sellers, artists, producers, and more at this annual Street Festival Sidewalk Sale in Gravenhurst. On August 10th from 11 am to 4 pm and August 11th from 10 am to 4 pm, join the town of Gravenhurst for a huge sidewalk sale, activities, live music, and food at 295 Muskoka Road South. 

1. 35th Annual Bracebridge Antique Show and Sale 

If you’re looking for items unique in time and place, check out the Antique Show and Sale at the Agricultural Building in the JD Lang Activity Park in Bracebridge. From August 24th to 26th, you can explore various antiques including Canadiana, furniture, tools, lamps, Persian rugs, jewellery, coins, silver, china, paper items and advertising, dolls, pressed glass, toys, quilts, linens, and more. Admission is only $5 and is good for the entire weekend!
